MISSION STATEMENT
The Mid-South Genesis Community Development Corporation (MSG-CDC) is an outreach ministry of Brown Missionary Baptist Church in Southaven, MS. The mission of MSG-CDC is to improve the quality of life of those in need by serving in the areas of housing, education, economic development, and humanitarian support.

Mid-South Genesis Community Development Corporation (MSG-CDC) is an outreach ministry of Brown Missionary Baptist Church in Southaven, MS. We are a nonprofit organization serving the Memphis metropolitan statistical area: Shelby County, TN; Desoto County, MS; Crittenden County, AR. Seventy-five percent of our activities occur in Shelby County, TN. Our primary focus is on the Whitehaven neighborhood in Memphis, TN. The MSG-CDC was created by Brown Missionary Baptist Church as envisioned by Senior Pastor, Dr. Bartholomew Orr, for the sole purpose of executing our stated mission. The organization operates as an entity, separate and apart from Brown Missionary Baptist Church and is governed by a Board of Directors.
What We Do

COMMITTEES
- Executive Committee
Responsible for oversight of operations and management of the organization; responsible for conducting the annual evaluation of the Executive Director. - Fund and Grants Development Committee
Meet regularly to review the status of funding sought and pursued, grant applications, and awards of the CDC. - Housing Development Committee
Develop housing projects, propose any acquisition and disposition to board for consideration, acquire property, determine rehab projects, establish coordinated supportive services, etc. - Human Resource Committee
Responsible for creating and/or monitoring systems and policies to ensure that the organization is following local, state and federal laws and certain best practices relating to its employees, developing job descriptions, compensation packages, performance appraisals, and all areas of human resource management. - Board Development Committee
Make Recommendations to the Board of Directors. Nominate persons as members and officers; determine composition of board; design and implement board training; and review the effectiveness and functioning of the board on an annual basis. - Advisory Committee
A collection of individuals who bring unique and qualified knowledge and skills will advise to effectively guide the work of the organization. Advisors are not time-bound and may also serve on ad hoc and other committees. - Marketing and Public Relations Committee
Create awareness of the good work of the non-profit; using social media platforms; etc. Include: Website, Flyers, Brochures, etc. - Finance Committee
Review financial status of the CDC.
